The article examines the role of British football commentators in broadcasting matches and creating a unique atmosphere around the events on the field. The author identifies two main levels of the sports commentary language: play-by-play commentary (P P), color commentary (CC), analyzes their functions, as well as differences. Special attention is paid not only to the transmission of events on the field, but also to the ability of commentators to improvise and cope with extreme situations. The study also highlights the time constraints faced by commentators, affecting their ability to control speech and prevent mistakes during the broadcast.
