Abstract

This article presents a systematic investigation of the significance of folklore texts as an object of study in the field of English Linguistics. It explores the role of folklore texts in shaping language, culture, and identity, and discusses the relevance of folklore in understanding linguistic diversity, language change, and language variation. Drawing on theoretical frameworks from sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and cognitive linguistics, the article examines the linguistic features of folklore texts, including narrative structures, lexical choices, and linguistic devices. It also considers the relationship between folklore and language ideology, as well as the impact of folklore on language preservation and revitalization. The article argues that the study of folklore texts contributes to a better understanding of language use and its sociocultural contexts, and underscores the need for further research into this area within the discipline of English Linguistics.
